# Perpmate

> Perpmate is an onchain perpetual futures DEX for trading crypto, stock, and forex perpetuals with up to 50x leverage. No KYC required.

Perpmate runs on Hyperliquid's audited smart contracts for deep liquidity, fast execution, and secure trading. Users connect a crypto wallet and start trading in seconds — no signups, no forms, no personal info tracked.

## Key Definitions

- **Perpetual Futures (Perps):** Derivative contracts that track an asset's spot price with no expiration date, allowing traders to go long or short with leverage. A funding rate mechanism keeps the contract price anchored to the underlying asset.
- **Funding Rate:** A periodic payment exchanged between long and short traders every 8 hours. When the perpetual price trades above spot, longs pay shorts. When below, shorts pay longs. This keeps perp prices aligned with spot markets.
- **Liquidation:** The automatic closure of a leveraged position when losses approach the deposited margin (collateral). Higher leverage means a tighter liquidation price and greater risk of forced closure.
- **Cross Margin:** A margin mode that uses the entire account balance as collateral for all open positions, reducing individual liquidation risk but exposing the full account to losses.
- **Leverage:** A multiplier that amplifies trading exposure beyond the deposited collateral. At 10x leverage, a $100 deposit controls $1,000 worth of an asset. Gains and losses are both magnified.
- **Perp DEX:** A decentralized exchange for trading perpetual futures directly from a crypto wallet, with no account creation, KYC, or custody of funds by a third party.
